The human scapula makes up the upper portion of the back torso, also known as the “shoulder blades”, these bones are responsible for anchoring the arm bone and clavicle to the body. The scapulas are thin, triangular-shaped bones with large surface area for muscular attachments all throughout the back.
Displayed on a solid brass base, this piece showcases the anatomical markings once used by medical students to help understand human osteology.
