Single large African porcupine quills ranging in size averaging 6” in length. These quills are not only brilliantly colored but are incredibly sharp! The porcupine quill is known for its barbed end that lodges itself under the skin, creating difficult means of removal.
African porcupines are a species or rodent weighing up to 30lbs. It is known for its dangerously sharp quills used as a defense mechanism. When threatened the porcupine will spread its quills, which are loosely connected to its skin, allowing predators to not only be pierced by the needle-like barbs but be unable to remove them from themselves once imbedded!
